High-tech horticulture arrives in Lismore

Biortica Agrimed is excited to announce completion of the transaction to acquire the Canna-Pacific 10,000 m2 glass-house facility outside of Lismore, NSW.

Tom Varga, CEO of Biortica Agrimed, expressed his enthusiasm at having a state-of-the-art facility that expands capacity to meet the demands currently being placed on the business. He said, “We are thrilled to be bringing this world class facility on-line and address the needs of patients across Australia and globally.”

“Our team is working really hard to ensure that our facility is equipped with the latest technology and meets the highest standards for production and quality control, with first crops in Stage 1 of the fit-out being planted in July 2023”

“We need it to be Biortica Ready! ” he said.

The newly commissioned facility will continue Biortica’s focus on growing medicinal cannabis and cement its position as the largest grower of medicinal cannabis in the country.

Medicinal cannabis is used as a natural alternative to synthetic drugs to assist patients deal with chronic pain, nausea and loss of appetite associated with cancer and cancer treatments. There is a rapidly growing body of evidence that medicinal cannabis may also assist with epilepsy, multiple sclerosis and for symptom relief in palliative care.*

“Canna Pacific did a great job on this glasshouse horticultural facility, for which we thank them, and I know it is always disappointing when a project can’t be completed. Biortica is here now to complete that initial vision and deliver a significant infrastructure asset for the northern rivers for many years to come,” he said.
The Biortica, Lismore facility will employ 40 people when fully operational, with up to 100 jobs created during construction.

“We aim to be a responsible and contributing member of the Lismore community. When fully operational this new horticultural facility will contribute up to $31m into the local economy.
